Jeep has released updates for the Compass for the 2023 model year. The SUV is now powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine, along with a handful of updates and lineup changes. Transmission options are also updated, which should be good news for those looking for ruggedness in a compact vehicle.
First offered on the Jeep Compass, the direct-injected, turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine develops up to 200 horsepower (149 kilowatts) and 221 pound-feet (271 Newton-meters) of torque . This is supposed to offer exceptional responsiveness and improved handling.

Additionally, Jeep’s Active Drive 4×4 system is now standard across the lineup. At any speed and without any driver input at any speed, this system is fully automatic, providing seamless operation in and out of four-wheel drive mode. Meanwhile, Compass Trailhawk models that come equipped with the optional Jeep Active Drive Low 4×4 system offer a best-in-class 20:1 crawl ratio.
The Jeep Active Drive and Active Drive Low 4×4 systems are equipped with the Jeep Selec-Terrain system, which offers up to four modes: Auto, Snow and Sand/Mud, plus the Rock mode exclusive to the Trailhawk model.
Jeep’s advanced safety features are also standard across the lineup, such as Drowsy Driver Detection, Rear Seat Reminder Alert and Security Alarm. Latitude and above models come standard with automatic high beam control.
There are three unique skins and special edition packages available for those who want to stand out. The Special Edition Compass (RED) model receives more exterior color options. Compass Sport and Latitude models come standard with a new set of 17-inch wheels.
The 2023 Jeep Compass is available to order now, available in five different 4×4 trim configurations: Sport, Latitude, Latitude LUX, Limited and the rugged Trailhawk. It should start arriving in North American showrooms in the first quarter of 2023.
