2023 Honda Civic Type R 3D Visualizer Lets You Try All The Colors

0

Only a few days ago Honda presented the Civic Type R and is now launching a configurator in Japan. Granted, it’s basically a 3D viewer (see source link below) because you can only change the body color by choosing from one of the five available shades: Historic Championship White, Rallye Red, Boost Blue, Sonic Gray Pearl and Crystal Black Pearl.

Whichever you choose, you can have the massive exterior and side mirror caps in any color as long as they’re black. The same can also be said for the wheels, which for the new generation of the hot hatch are actually smaller. The FK8 sat on 20-inch alloys with 245/30 tires while the new FL8 has 19-inch wheels with wider 265/30 rubber. Honda has also decided to switch tire brands from Continental’s ContiSport 6 to Michelin’s Pilot Sport 4S.

Going back to the handy 3D viewer, it lets you experience the Honda Civic Type R from almost any angle. You can also open all the doors and the tailgate before jumping inside the two-tone cabin. Regardless of body color, the CTR has red molded front seats combined with a black rear bench seat contrasted by red seat belts. Even the floor mats are finished in the same striking colour, which has also been used for the stitching on the steering wheel and door panels.

You can even start the engine through this nifty visualizer and hear the sound of the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit idling. Honda remains tight-lipped on the power output of the four-cylinder, saying only that it outperforms the engine used in the previous CTR. As a reminder, the FK8 had 306 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. In some regions like Europe and Japan, the engine was rated at 316 hp.

Honda will have the hottest Civic of all on sale in the United States for the 2023 model year, with a serialized Type R plate mounted on the passenger side of the dash. It will launch this fall, with full technical specifications and pricing details to be released in due course.
