Airstream may be famous for its iconic fleet of “silver bullet” travel trailers, but the company has plenty of other great products for sale. Joining its Interstate family of luxury Class B motorhomes for the 2022 model year is the new Interstate 24X, which can be described as a fully equipped luxury home ready for off-road on wheels (all-terrain).
Airstream explains that Interstate 24X is inspired by growing customer demand for luxury off-grid motorhomes with ample space for adventure gear like bikes, kayaks, snowboards, and more. The new product is based on the chassis of the latest generation of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and shares many of its components and technologies with the rest of the Airstream models. Order books are already open with an MSRP of $ 213,850.
The highlight of the cabin must be the flexible rear sleeping, living and storage area where up to six passengers can be seated. Airstream promises “the largest sleeping area of any Class B motorhome” in several versatile configurations available when you deploy the red stitched cushions. Another notable feature is the bathroom which is way beyond what you would expect from a Class B motorhome in terms of dimensions.
Needless to say, the Sprinter-based motorhome is powered by its two axles with six off-road tires. Airstream has installed what it describes as ultra-durable protective coatings on the vehicle’s bumpers, sides and wheels to protect them when you go on an off-road adventure. And to give you the best possible night view when tackling unpaved trails, the motorhome can be fitted with a 42 inch LED light bar.
“The wait is over and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Justin Humphreys, Airstream vice president of sales. “For those who want to get deeper into the woods – who want to get out of the crowds and find the perfect spot for boondocking – Interstate 24X lets you do that. You will open your door and adventure awaits you right outside.
