While we expect the full 2022-23 NBA season schedule to be released sometime later this week, there have already been leaks of that schedule.
Christmas Day matches have already been announced and in addition to a few other key leaked matches, the league officially has a start date for the new season.
According Athletic’s Shams Charaniathe 2022-23 NBA season will begin on October 18 with two matchups.
Game 1 on TNT will be on the East Coast with the Philadelphia 76ers visiting the defending Eastern Conference champions in the Boston Celtics and Game 2 on TNT will be across the country from the defending champions of the NBA in the Golden State. The Warriors have their ring ceremony and host the Los Angeles Lakers.
The full 2022-23 NBA schedule is rumored to be released on Wednesday, August 17, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
The 76ers and Celtics split their four-game streak in the 2021-22 campaign, as they each won a road game and finished the regular season 51-31. While Boston advanced to the NBA Finals, Philadelphia failed to come out of their Eastern Conference Semifinals series against the Miami Heat, losing to the Heat in six games.
On the flip side, the Lakers and Warriors played each other four times last season, with Golden State winning three of the four games. The only victory the Lakers have over the Warriors came in Los Angeles on March 5, when Golden State was without Draymond Green and Los Angeles without Anthony Davis.
The Lakers and Warriors also faced off to open the 2021-22 season, so this will be the second straight year those two teams have played on opening night.
Four teams vying for a championship in the 2022-23 season will kick things off on October 18, a night when some of the league’s best will take to the field. Joel Embiid, James Harden, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are all set to play on opening night to kick off the league’s 76th season!
