The 2020 NFL off season is still a few days away from the official start of the start of the new league year, but that hasn’t stopped a wave of buzz as is typical at this time of year – all around the 2020 NFL combine. The NFL combine brought together team leaders, coaches and scouts from 32 teams, which has led to several reports – or rumors – surfacing.
Among the busiest topics of this off-season before the league officially enters the NFL 2020 calendar, the looming free agency of the future Tom Brady Hall of Fame quarterback. There is a growing belief that Brady and the Patriots could in fact part with this offseason and Jared Dubin has broken down the best franchise options to replace it. Brady is not the only player to have buzzed on the combine, however. Imminent free agents Philip Rivers, Amari Cooper and Austin Hooper, among others, are receiving a lot of interest from a variety of NFL teams.
In an effort to streamline all of the latest updates from the combine, throughout free agency, throughout the NFL 2020 draft process, and more, we’ve created off-season trackers set for multiple teams. If you want to know pretty much everything that’s going on with the team, you’ll find it in the hubs below.
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears took a huge step back in 2020 despite a fairly aggressive 2019 offseason. What does this mean for the 2020 offseason? Time will tell us. The biggest question mark is what (if any) the Bears will do to remedy their quarterback situation. Matt Nagy also previously mentioned the importance of finding a close end to his attacking system and Chicago is already linked to imminent free agent Austin Hooper. Sean Wagner-McGough covers you all the latest updates on the Bears offseason.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys will face a much more difficult offseason than most teams. Although they are entering the offseason 2020 with a lot of ceiling space, they also have several key players in the franchise looking for new contracts. Dak Prescott is the player everyone is talking about, but Dallas will also have to find a way to re-sign his best wide receiver (Amari Cooper) and his best defensive back (Byron Jones), among others. Patrik Walker covers you all the latest updates on the Cowboys offseason.
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers have been among the most aggressive players in the last free agency free season – a major change from how they have handled free agency in the past decade. The final result? A huge success. The Packers completely redesigned their defense in the last free agency free season and have become one of the most effective defenses in the NFL. This off-season will involve getting more weapons for Aaron Rodgers. Jared Dubin covers you all the latest updates on the Packers offseason. & nbsp;
New England Patriots
Brady this, Brady this, we have it – but the New England Patriots have several other burning questions to tackle this offseason. For starters, whether it’s Brady or someone else under center in 2020, they’re going to have to provide him with an upgrade to the wide receiver and tight end positions. The offensive line could also use help. Not to mention, several key defenders – including one of their oldest newbies (Devin McCourty) are expected to hit the free agent market. Tyler Sullivan covers you all the latest updates on the Patriots off-season.
New York Giants
It’s a new day for a Giants franchise that has hired former Patriots special teams coach Joe Judge to right the ship – a ship that has sunk several times in the past three seasons. But there is reason to hope for this franchise after landing quarterback Daniel Jones and wide receiver Darius Slayton in the 2019 NFL draft. Jones’ choice made us laugh, and the same analysts doubled in Underlining its high turnover rate (without taking into account the frequency of quarterbacks recruited), the former Duke product almost broke Baker Mayfield’s rookie touchdown record despite the lack of multiple games with a high ankle sprain. The Giants are full of salary cap space and should be among the most active free agency players this off-season. Dan Schneier covers you all the latest updates on the Giants offseason.
Philadelphia Eagles
Either way, Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman finds a way to be active players in free will and the commercial market every off-season. Either Roseman is a magician with the salary cap, or the importance of the cap is overestimated. We may never find that answer – as details on how each team operates the cap rarely reach the audience – but you can expect a lot more action from the Eagles in the months to come draft. Cody Benjamin covers you all the latest updates on the Eagles offseason.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers almost found a way to steal a playoff spot in the 2019 regular season despite losing franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for most of the season. How did they do it? A small group performance of their defense played a key role. The recovery of Roethlisberger should be the main scenario of this offseason, but the Steelers have not finished building a necessary list to help him make another great effort to fight for more than the AFC North division. Bryan DeArdo covers you all the latest updates on the Steelers offseason. & nbsp;
Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins handed over one of the largest free agency contracts (Landon Collins: six years, $ 84 million) last year, but that shouldn’t stop them from becoming big spenders again this year. After all, we’re talking about Dan Snyder’s Redskins here. Perhaps more interesting than their free agent plans will be how they approach the 2020 NFL draft. Although it sounds like a lock, the Redskins will use No. 2 overall pick on defensive end Chase Young, the combine caused some buzz by connecting them to quarterback Tua Tagovaiola – whom they met privately. Could Washington follow in the footsteps of Arizona by drafting a quarterback in the first round during consecutive off-seasons? Jordan Dajani covers you all the latest updates on the Redskins offseason.
