Two people died and six others were injured in a stabbing rampage outside the Wynn Casino on the famous Las Vegas Strip on Thursday, police said.
Police began receiving reports of a “series of stabbings” on Las Vegas Boulevard around 11:40 a.m., Las Vegas Police Captain Dori Koren said at a conference call. press in the afternoon.
At the scene, police quickly arrested a suspect and began providing medical aid to the victims, Koren said.
Two of the eight victims died. Three of the surviving victims were in critical condition, Koren said.
“The weapon we recovered was a large kitchen knife,” he said. It was too early in the investigation to determine a motive, Koren said.
“The scene is under control,” he said. “The suspect is in custody and everything seems safe at this time.”
Las Vegas Police tweeted a news alert that said the report of the knife attack, shortly before noon, occurred “in front of a casino in the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard.”
