The accident occurred in Laval, a suburb of Montreal.
Two children are dead and six others injured after a city bus crashed Wednesday into a daycare center in Laval, Que., a suburb of Montreal.
The bus driver, a 51-year-old man, was arrested and faces charges of homicide and dangerous driving, police said at a news conference.
The other six children did not sustain life-threatening injuries but were taken to hospitals, police said.
An adult in shock was also taken to hospital, police said.
The parents were reunited with the children who were at daycare, police said.
“These are children who are starting their lives,” Laval Mayor Stéphane Boyer told reporters at the scene.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a tweet that his heart was with the people of Laval.
“Words cannot take away the pain and fear parents, children and workers feel – but we are here for you,” Trudeau wrote. “I keep in my thoughts all those affected by this unfathomable and tragic event.”
