Elon Musk unveiled his Twitter 2.0 – The Everything App on Sunday, saying new user signups are at an all-time high and the company is actively recruiting.
Musk, who has laid off more than half of Twitter’s workforce, said “world-class software aces are joining Twitter.”
Sharing some company slides he shared with Twitter employees, the world’s richest man said the next generation of Twitter will focus on advertising as entertainment and video.
“We’re hiring. Active user minutes are at an all-time high and monetizable daily active users (mDAUs) have crossed the quarter-billion mark,” Musk informed.
“Hate speech impressions are lower, reported impersonations rise and then fall,” he added.
After relaunching “Verified” Twitter with the blue badge for $8, Musk will now bring encrypted direct messages (DMs) and long-form tweets to the platform.
He said the goal is a “trusted digital public square, where a wide range of viewpoints are tolerated, as long as people don’t break the law or spam.”
“For example, any incitement to violence will result in account suspension,” he pointed out.
Musk said earlier that he reinstated former US President Donald Trump on the platform because Trump had not violated any laws and the microblogging platform “must be fair for everyone”.
Based on a survey, the CEO of Twitter had announced on November 20 that former US President Trump was allowed to join the micro-blogging platform.
