1Password on Mac does not work with Magic Keyboard Touch ID function – PiunikaWeb

1Password is a popular password manager app that is available on multiple platforms such as Windows, Android, iOS, macOS and can even be installed as extensions on internet browsers.

Like LastPass, 1Password remembers all of your login information such as your username and passwords and requires you to remember only one master password.

But unlike its competitors, the app requires a paid subscription and allows users to try the service for free for 14 days.

That said, 1Password users rarely encounter bugs and issues with the app.

But lately several users reported that 1Password is incompatible with the recently released Magic Keyboard Touch ID feature on Mac when in flip mode.

1Password users must enter your master password in order to unlock the application. While this doesn’t break the app in any way, it is quite irritating to enter the master password every time.

So @ 1Password if I have a MacBook Pro, with an external magic keyboard with touchID and the cover is closed, I see this… why? I can very well use the external touchID keyboard in other areas of the system (to unlock, or in system preferences for example)

I can’t sign in to the 1P app with my fingerprint on my MacBook Pro 16 “, but I can sign in to the mini with my fingerprint. Is there a solution to this?

Until then, users will be forced to keep their Macs on if they want to use the 1Password Touch ID feature.

Fortunately, the developers of the app recognized the problem and said they were working on a fix. However, there is no ETA in sight.

We hope the developers solve the problem of 1Password Magic Keyboard Touch ID, as many people who use their Mac for productivity purposes keep it in Clamshell mode.
