Especially in recent years, actress Scarlett Johansson has become one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood. In fact, if you add up the box office of the actress’ highest-grossing films, the figure would undoubtedly run into the billions. Of course, the list includes Avengers: Endgamewhich is arguably responsible for some of the most impressive box office records broken by the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Throughout her career, the Oscar-nominated actress has also collaborated with several veteran actors like herself. As some may have noticed, she has worked with some of these stars more than once.

ten Hugh Jackman

Johansson has starred alongside Jackman in two films so far, both released in 2006. Scoop is a comedy film written and directed by Woody Allen. In the film, Johansson plays a reporter who gets a tip about a possible serial killer, played by Jackman.

While talking about working with Johansson on this film, Jackman told Emanuel Levy, “She’s [sic] a little extraordinary, really, because the girl can do everything”. Shortly after concluding Scoopthe two actors went to work on Christopher Nolan Prestigewhich is considered one of Nolan’s best films to date.


9 Brie Larson

So far, Larson and Johansson have made three movies together, though not all of them were for the MCU. The very first time they worked on a film was in the 2013 comedy-drama Don Jonwhich also stars Julianne Moore and Tony Danza.

On The Ellen DeGeneres Show, it almost seemed like Larson had completely forgotten about their first movie together. In response, Johansson joked, “Obviously it made an impression on me, but someone else didn’t care.” Meanwhile, Larson explained, “I didn’t even think about it because I just felt like a glorified extra and you were Scarlett Johansson.”


8 Chris Hemsworth

The Aussie actor is one of Johansson’s regular MCU co-stars since the two are in the original avengers cast. After years of working together, it’s become clear that Hemsworth and Johansson have become very good friends. In fact, while appearing on BBC Radio 1 Insults on the playgroundthe cast took part in what host Chris Stark called “the most polished game ever”.

Johansson tried to take on Hemsworth’s “grandma cardigans” while Hemsworth hinted that Johansson had a tendency to show up late to set. The Thor actor also joked, “Do you need a watch…for Christmas?”

Ruffalo didn’t just play Johansson’s sidekick Avenger, he also played his MCU love interest at one point. While talking about their romantic history in the MCU, Johansson explained that Ruffalo was a “wonderful scene partner” to have “because he’s so open himself.”

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the actress also explained that Ruffalo had to “really suspend disbelief” because she was heavily pregnant at the time they were filming their scenes together. She also found it “ironic” because, in one of their scenes, Natasha opens up about her inability to have children.


6 Jeremy Renner

After appearing in every MCU avengers movies and Captain America: Civil Warit’s become clear that Johansson’s Black Widow and Renner’s Hawkeye are as close as it gets.

The two actors have also shared several badass moments together through their MCU films. There is also a chance that Renner will appear in the next Black Widow film.

5 Robert Downey Jr.

Johansson joined Downey in the MCU long before the Avengers were assembled. Because of this, both actors are among those with the biggest MCU roles. Johansson made his MCU debut in the 2010 film iron man 2 where her character first goes undercover as Natalie Rushman.

While speaking with Sci-Fi Movie Page, Johansson explained that she was interested in joining the MCU after the first Iron Man the film had a great effect on him. She explained, “The acting was great, but it was also romantic and funny and smart and witty.”

4 Gwyneth Paltrow

Paltrow was one of the actors Johansson first worked with upon joining the MCU. In fact, Johansson’s Natasha Rushman was as profitable for Paltrow’s Pepper Potts as it was for Iron Man himself.

And while talking iron man 2, Paltrow also praised the fact that the film featured two strong female characters, telling MTV, “I think it’s a very smart move to have capable, smart women because it appeals to women.” The two actresses then worked together on several Avengers films.


3 Jon Favreau

To be able to join the MCU, Johansson had to convince iron man 2 director Favreau that she was right for the role. This proved to be a challenge initially because Favreau preferred Emily Blunt. However, when Blunt finally gave up, they contacted Johansson again.

Speaking with USA Today, the actress recalled, “The best call you can get is after you get rejected for something and then you get it.” Since then, Favreau has also cast Johansson for a role in Chiefone of the best movies for foodies.

2 Samuel L. Jackson

Before either actor joined the MCU, Johansson and Jackson starred in the 2008 film The mind, written and directed by Frank Miller. While discussing how she got involved in the film, Johansson revealed that Jackson was one of the reasons he agreed to do it.

“I’ve always loved Sam and been a huge fan of his,” Johansson told Indie London. “We had a very nice meeting, a long meeting, and we kind of admired each other.” As fans may know, Jackson’s Nick Fury and Johansson’s Black Widow have also worked closely with the MCU.

1 Chris Evans

Long before either actor landed their roles in the MCU, Johansson and Evans were already working on movies together. The first was the 2004 movie The perfect score. This was followed by the 2007 film nanny diarieswhich is among the best romantic comedies starring MCU actors.

And when the actors joined the MCU, they worked on several Captain America and Avengers films together. Meanwhile, Evans and Johansson are rumored to reunite in the upcoming movie. Little Shop of Horrors.
